Lighting the gourmet journey
The preliminary and detail design by Inverse for the Gourmet Street and Food Hall in Shinsegae’s flagship store Myeong-dong, combines concealed and integrated fixtures for general and accent illumination and custom-made, decorative luminaires for visual interest.
With its speciality food counters and mini-restaurants, the huge basement offers an exemplary blend of luxury, quirkiness and accessibility. The lighting scheme is understated but stylish. The bespoke luminaires, in particular, help develop a journey through the food hall, complementing the artisanal and artistic direction of Yabu Pushelberg’s interior design.
